Young Children's Community
A gentle beginning.
Why Montessori for toddlers?
Absorbent Mind
From birth to age three, children are in their most intense period of development. They absorb everything in their environment. Our YCC is a safe, beautiful, and stimulating space designed to meet the needs of this incredible developmental stage.
Movement & Motor Skills
The environment is carefully designed to encourage movement and refinement of gross and fine motor skills. From pulling up on a low bar to manipulating small objects, toddlers are free to move and explore.
Language Development
The YCC is a language-rich environment. Guides model precise language, read books, sing songs, and engage in conversation with the children, providing a strong foundation for communication.
Practical Life
Toddlers have a natural drive to be independent. Practical life activities, such as hand washing, food preparation, and dressing, allow them to care for themselves and their environment with real, child-sized tools.
Toileting
We work in partnership with parents to support the child's natural interest in using the toilet. This is approached with patience and respect for each child's individual timeline.
Preparation for Children's House
The skills of independence, concentration, and social grace developed in the YCC provide a seamless transition to our Children's House program for ages 3-6.
